Annual Reports: The Integrity Act requires the Integrity Commissioner to provide an annual report to the Legislative Assembly containing information generally on the activities of the Integrity Commissioner. Below under “Annual Reports” the reader will find a link to each of the annual reports made since 2000.
Special Reports: Early in the tenure of the first Legislative Assembly, the Hon. Robert Stanbury, Nunavut’s first Integrity Commissioner (then called Conflict of Interest Commissioner) was requested to provide recommendations for new legislation for Nunavut. His resulting report, entitled For A Culture of Integrity was tabled in the Legislative Assembly in May 2001, and constituted the basis for Nunavut’s first Integrity Act enacted in 2001. The document For A Culture of Integrity can be accessed below under Special Reports.
The Integrity Act (s.58) requires the Legislative Assembly, every five years, to review the provisions of the Integrity Act. In 2006 the Legislative Assembly requested the advice of the Hon. Robert Stanbury, again, in connection with the first statutory review. His report dated January 10, 2007, can also be accessed below under Special Reports.
In 2011 the Legislative Assembly conducted a second statutory review, and was of the view that no fundamental changes to the provisions of the Integrity Act were required.
There have been numerous “minor” amendments to the Integrity Act since 2001, as indicated on the cover page of the consolidated Integrity Act (see link under About the Integrity Act).
Section 44 Reports: Any allegation of an MLA’s contravention of a provision of the Integrity Act is received by the Integrity Commissioner and investigated and reported upon pursuant to a process detailed in s.36-45 of the Act. Section 44 requires the Integrity Commissioner to make his or her Report to the Speaker and the Speaker is required to cause the s.44 Report to be laid before the Legislative Assembly. Below, under “Section 44 Reports” are links to each of the s.44 Reports that have been tabled to date.
